For years, thoughtful physical education teachers have explored the concept of "Universal Design" in order to provide the most equitable physical education experience for all children and youth. As more and more children with disabilities are being included into general physical education classes, there is a urgent need to determine what variables are at work.
This presentation will introduce the Lieberman/Brian Inclusive Rating Scale for Physical Education (LIRSPE) as one tool to evaluate program progress. This valid and reliable instrument can help all teachers be more successful at addressing the needs of all children. Participants will also learn the various ways the instrument can be used to their advantage and how to get it!
